DonateLife Week commences with heart felt speeches

By August 3, 2015No Comments

DonateLife Week kicked off around the country on August 3 with many launches. In Sydney Health Minister Jillian Skinner officially launched DonateLife Week at Westmead Hospital. There were three inspirational speeches. Michael Gremmo spoke on behalf of his family about the loss of their 13-year-old son Nathan earlier this year. Nathan became an organ donor with six people receiving the gift of life. Michael spoke with great passion about donation and for the love of his son. Carlo Muscatello, a kidney recipient who has played cricket with Transplant Australia, described the difference in his life since receiving the gift of life. Lisa Steele, mother of Olivia who has competed at three Australian Transplant Games, described the joy in her family when Olivia received a liver transplant on her first birthday. Olivia (pictured above with her family)  is now 14 and is preparing to compete in the Games in Western Sydney next year. It was a beautiful launch and we are thankful these inspirational stories were shared.
