Vale Jill Coughran

By June 30, 2015July 8th, 20152 Comments

The Transplant Australia Western Australia family is saddened by the passing of Jill Coughran, a member of both Transplant Australia in NSW and WA.

Jill was a Double Lung transplant recipient of 20 years.  She received her transplant at St Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney on  October 5, 1995.

Jill and her daughter Shelley arrived in West Australia from NSW in 2005, and became involved in, and supportive of our branch.    Jill held the position of Treasurer from July 2005 until November 2010.

Jill and Shelley were permanent members of the our Committee. They travelled from their Mandurah home to Perth regularly for meetings and other transplant activities. They were both members of the ‘Local Organising Committee’ when we hosted the Australian Transplant Games in Perth in 2008.

On many occasions we were convinced Jill had seen her last Transplant Games, but she would prove us wrong and be present at the next.  Jill would often end up in hospital for a few days, then return in time to compete! Jill was a force to be reckoned with – a glamorous force, and always the life of the party.

Jill, we thank you sincerely for your dedication to Western Australian and Transplant Australia nationally. We will miss you.

Our sympathy is extended to Shelley and all members of the Coughran family.

Rest in Peace Our Dear Jill

Marg Martin
