Help us make the most of life by supporting the Second Chance Charity Golf Cup on 19 October, 2023 at the Queanbeyan Golf Club, Queanbeyan, NSW.

The Second Chance Charity Golf Cup is fully sponsored by Barton Commercial Property and is raising money to support Transplant Australia and the NORTH Foundation.  Individuals and companies can get involved by pledging to donate to support this great event.  Anyone who pledges to donate can nominate to participate as an individual or as a team of four.

Last year $97,500 was raised which was shared between Transplant Australia and the NORTH Foundation and put towards developing programs for potential living kidney donors and recipients, as well as helping those on dialysis awaiting a transplant.  This year the target target is to go beyond this and support continued education so more Australians will consider being a living donor or registering to be a donor.

Why the Second Chance Charity Golf Cup?

Most of us will never know what the feeling is like to have to wait for a lifesaving organ transplant.  Unfortunately, that is something that Brett and Jodie Barton and their family recently lived through, with the added stress of this happening during the pandemic.  Jodie received a kidney from Brett when he was chosen as a living donor for her after twelve months of extensive testing.  They realised that they were in the minority and that the majority of people requiring a kidney transplant may have to wait years.

Unfortunately, further health complications related to her condition have meant that Jodie has now been waitlisted to receive a liver transplant.  Jodie is one of the 1800 Australians waiting for a life-saving transplant and we are hoping that special call will happen this year.

Jodie and Brett want to help Transplant Australia and the NORTH Foundation educate people about the option to be a living donor and to support those who may be on the, often, complex path to organ transplant.  To read their full story click here.
