Tx Parents Connect is Transplant Australia’s online peer support group for primary carers of child, teen, and young adult transplant recipients.

Transplant Australia recognises the uniqueness of the transplant journey. We comprehend that though the gift of life is truly celebrated, many challenges can arise along the way. We celebrate the strength that can be found in healthy community. Our connect groups provide a confidential space for peer-to-peer connections to grow through sharing, understanding and listening.

What is a Connect Group?

A group of people with similar circumstances, challenges or goals who come together to share conversation and grow community, impacting a sense of isolation. Support groups can provide a space for people to share the load, meet others, encourage one another and hear advice from peers who have faced something similar.

Although a Connect Group is primarily for connecting with others who ‘get it’ through peer support, at times educational presentations (from health professionals) may be included (with content generated by the group). Most sessions will be facilitated, informal discussions.

Please Note: This is a space for peer support. It is not for receiving medical advice or counselling. If you need some direction for mental wellbeing, further mental health supports and help lines may be found on our website.

For medical advice, we would always advise you to speak with your transplant unit.

Other helpful information can be found in our ‘Living with Your Transplant’ resource. An educational resource carefully put together with input from transplant and medical specialists.

Connecting with other families who were facing transplant was a lifesaver. From practical support to emotional support, it helped me feel less alone. Everything I felt, they had felt.

Having a transplanted kid is so tough before and after. It is great being in a room with other people who get it.

The stress and hardship of my child’s transplant has taken such a toll on me and my family. Having the support of other parents who understand has been invaluable.

Hospital visits are long and draining days for not just my transplant kid but their siblings, meeting other transplant families has really helped me.
