The Orange Ball – Raising awareness of organ donation and helping kids live their dreams

Saturday 7 September 2024
6.30pm for a 7.00pm start
Sea World Resort Conference Centre

It’s back. One of the most inspirational gala balls on the Gold Coast each  year – the Orange Ball.

The Ball is in honour of promoting organ and tissue donation with proceeds raised to help transplanted children fulfill their dreams through the Matty Hempstalk “Live the Dream’ Scholarship.

Gordon Rutty is the man behind the Ball and the annual Walk to End The Wait. As an altruistic kidney donor, Gordon is passionate about helping others.

Transplant Australia hopes to raise enough funds to award the scholarship annually and giving a young teen with a transplant the opportunity to participate in the sporting event of their dreams.

If you are unable to make it to the Ball but still want to support Gordon and Transplant kids, you can donate to his fundraiser by clicking on the button below.  All donations over $2 are tax deductible.

“The aim of everything I do is to increase awareness of the need for those Australians who wish to donate their organs to register on the Australian Organ Donor Registry and ensure they have a conversation with their families about their wishes.  Only one in three Australians are registered donors despite the majority(69%) believing that registering is important.

There are more than 1,700 Australians currently waitlisted for a transplant and more than 12,000additional people on dialysis—many who may need a kidney transplant. Now more than ever, we need more Australians to say “yes” to organ donation.”
