The Games are a great event for raising awareness for organ and tissue donation. They have a clear impact on donor rates each year that they are held. This is because of the personal stories of triumph over illness that we’re able to share with Australia through our media program. The Games showcase organ and tissue donation is a positive light.

Transplant Australia offers athletes the opportunity to raise funds through our Charity Challenge Program. This program is designed to help athletes attend the games by meeting some or all of their Games costs, while also helping those on the transplant waiting list. All donations toward Transplant Australia above $2.00 are fully tax deductible.

How Does It Work?

To enrol in the Charity Challenge program simply complete the Charity Challenge Application form and send it back to the National Office by email ian.atkin@transplant.org.au or fax: (02) 9954 6412 to receive your Authority to fund raise.

Please remember to read our Community Fundraising Guidelines before filling out the application form.

Once you have received your Authority to Fund Raise you can promote your involvement to the local community by:

Using the Everyday Hero online fundraising program to encourage support from work colleagues, family and friends
Create a team on Everyday Hero and stage events in your local community such as a sausage sizzle or a trivia night
Join with a Transplant Australia state committee and participate in a range of fundraising programs
Apply to your local council, Bunnings or community club for support

About Everyday Hero

Everyday Hero is an online fundraising platform that allows you to build and personalise your own fundraising page. Everyday Hero is free for you to use and easy to set up. Once you are happy with your page simply send your URL to friends and family. Your friends can then donate online and leave messages of support.

How are we supporting you?

Any member wishing to fundraise must be registered and receive an Authority to Fundraise. Once approved, members are able to access:

Transplant Australia and Transplant Games logos
Help with the Everyday Hero fundraising system
Charity Challenge pack including shirt, hat and Authority to Fundraise certificate
Tax deductibility for all donations
Public liability insurance cover for approved events
Advice and templates for approaching local businesses, council and community groups

What you are committing to?

By enroling in the Charity Challenge program members are committing to:

Abiding by Transplant Australia’s fundraising guidelines which observe State fundraising laws
Declaring all funds raised and ensuring that appropriate tax deductibility receipts are provided
Nominating a referee who knows a member’s background and is prepared to vouch for them
Ensuring that all fundraising activities maintain Transplant Australia’s reputation as a leading and professional charitable organisation
Ensuring that all fundraising programs meet our philosophies and are done in a socially responsible manner so that anyone donating knows how their generous contribution will make a difference
Setting a target which is beyond their individual games costs

List of approved expenses that CAN be claimed from funds raised through the Charity Challenge Campaign.

Note: Where expenses are claimed that have not been paid through Transplant Australia, receipts must be attached to the official Charity Challenges Reimbursement form.

Games Registration
Airfares and other transport costs directly related to Games travel
Accommodation during the Games
“Official” team clothing (uniforms, tracksuits, blazers)
Reasonable excess baggage costs
Meal costs included in any pre-booked Games lunch, dinner and special event packages
Telephone costs incurred by team management and officials, as a result of their official duties
Travel Insurance

The World Games Registration Package (Registration, Meals, Games Transport and accommodation)
Airfares and other transport costs directly to and from the World Games
Total cost of any stop-over package included en-route to and from the Games and paid for as part of the Team Travel itinerary.
“Official” team uniform items
Appropriate and reasonable excess baggage costs
Telephone costs incurred by team management and officials, as a result of their official duties
Travel Insurance

Cost of pre- and/or post- Transplant Games holidays
Cost of uniforms subsidised by State Committees or Transplant Australia
Personal sporting or non-sporting clothing (not part of Games approved uniform items)
Sporting equipment (tennis racquets, bicycles, lawn bowls, towels etc).
Meal costs not included in Games packages
Personal costs associated with travelling (e.g. passports, telephone calls, suitcases etc).
Badges and other swap items
Raffle tickets
Car hire
Public transport tickets (unless part of the official team travel arrangements)
Flags and other banners
Any item of a personal nature.
