The Draw Is In: Australia to Face Hosts Germany at the 2026 Transplant Football World Cup
The official group draw for the 2026 Transplant Football World Cup, presented by Sanofi, took place on 20 August 2026 at the DFB Campus in Frankfurt, Germany — setting the stage for Transplant Australia FC’s campaign at the tournament this September.
Australia’s Group
Transplant Australia FC has been drawn into a group alongside tournament hosts Germany, along with Italy, Wales, and Northern Ireland — a tough opening test against some of the strongest transplant football nations in the world.
Facing the host nation in the group stage adds an extra edge to Australia’s campaign, with Germany entering the tournament with home crowd support and full preparation on familiar turf. Italy, Wales, and Northern Ireland round out a genuinely international group, reflecting the growing global reach of the tournament.
About the Tournament
The 2026 Transplant Football World Cup will be held in Frankfurt am Main from 13–18 September, hosted by the World Transplant Games Federation in cooperation with TransDia Sport Deutschland. It’s the second edition of the tournament, following the inaugural event in Cervia, Italy in 2024, and will bring together transplant recipients from nations across the globe to compete in 7-a-side football — celebrating life, resilience, and the power of organ donation.
The tournament follows a group stage format, with the top teams progressing through to the knockout rounds.
