What’s on in NSW

Want a few more obstacles in your life – sign up for this challenge

Transplant Australia is looking for members of our transplant community in NSW to join with us in a new adventure in the beautiful Hunter Valley.

As part of Transplant Active, we want to show the world what transplant recipients can achieve.

Join with Brendan, Jazz, Kate and other recipients to take on an obstacle course that will have you pushing the boundaries.

Racers and volunteers are both wanted.

When: Saturday 22 – Sunday 23 March 2025

Where: Hunter Valley NSW

What’s happening:     A transplant wave on Sunday March 23 involving recipients, health professionals and supporters all climbing walls, crawling under wire testing your strength, endurance and determination.  On the Saturday we will be manning a promotion tent for organ and tissue donation.

Spartan Race is a world-renowned obstacle course race that challenges participants to push their limits, overcome physical and mental obstacles, and build a sense of camaraderie. And it’s great fun.

ABOUT NSW

The NSW committee of Transplant Australia has members from all corners of NSW who span from families with young children, to the older among the ranks and every age between.

We meet once a month at different venues across NSW. These get-togethers incorporate activities like tenpin, lawn bowls, golf, archery, petanque or a picnic day to bring our community together. Each activity is run to encourage participation. Existing skill levels not necessary – we welcome newcomers and beginners!

“There are no strangers here, only friends you haven’t met yet” – William Butler Yeats

The NSW committee with the support of NSW Sport and Recreation funding stage sports development days, and camps throughout the year to help promote physical fitness and assist transplant recipients with their sporting endeavors. It is also a great opportunity for these recipients and athletes to gain specialised training to reach their full potential at either the Australian or World Transplant Games. The Games are a special time to demonstrate the high quality of life that is achieved following a transplant. We would love to have you a part of our NSW team!

At each event run by TA NSW, people are able to chat with others who’ve been through similar circumstances, including donor families, living donors, other recipients and supporters.

If you’re thinking about getting involved – stop thinking about it! We can’t wait to meet you at our next event. Email Andrew Veigel or Susan Robson for details.
