Transplant Australia’s Women & Girls Comeback Program

Every comeback begins with one brave step. The Transplant Australia Women’s and Girls Comeback Program, supported by the Australian Department of Health Play Her Way Grant, is designed to specifically help women and girls return to movement and active lifestyles with confidence, support and a renewed sense of possibility post a transplant journey  be that being a recipient and/or the carer of a recipient. 

A comeback is about more than sport

After transplant, returning to a “normal” life and getting active again can feel like a big step. Confidence may be low. Questions about safety can hold people back. Finding the time if busy schedules while caring for others can seem insurmountable.  

The Comeback Program exists to help women and girls move forward with encouragement, practical support and a community that understands the journey.

Who is the Comeback Program for?

The program is designed for women and girls living with a transplant or caring for a family members with a with/waiting for a transplant who want to return to sport, movement or active life.

Do I need to be sporty to take part?

No. The program is about helping participants take the next step that feels right for them, whether that is joining a team, becoming more active or rebuilding confidence in everyday movement. 

Is the program available now?

Is this program just for Women and Girls?

Yes. Thanks to funding from the Australian Government Department of Health’s Play Our Way Grant, this program is funded through till June 2027, specifically for Women and Girls.
