Supporting Paediatric Transplant Families 

Transplant Australia is excited to launch a new WA-based pilot program supporting paediatric transplant children and their families, thanks to the support of Telethon. 

You don’t have to navigate the transplant journey alone. 

A transplant can impact different aspects of life not just your health. You may have questions about your child’s treatment, the family’s emotional wellbeing, relationships, finances, work or study, culture, or what support is available. 

At Transplant Australia, our goal is to walk alongside you, help you navigate the support system, connect you with appropriate services and advocate with you when needed.

Initially running as a pilot until December 2026, the program is designed to strengthen wellbeing, connection and practical support for families navigating the paediatric transplant journey across Western Australia. Transplant Australia hopes to test the pilot concept and collect feedback from WA families to understand the value and potential feasibility for a long-term national application of a program like this.  

What the program includes

Dedicated Family Support Social Worker 

Our Social Worker can help you understand available pathways and identify who may be best placed to assist, provide support and advocacy. 

• A social worker does not replace your treating team we help you navigate alongside them.

We provide dedicated support for paediatric transplant families by supporting: 

• Family wellbeing
• Peer connections
• Access to services and information 
• Navigating the transplant journey 
• Regional and rural families 

We can help identify practical and emotional supports for you and the people around you. Provide referrals and support letters to connect you with services best suited with your needs. 

Family Care Packs

WA Families: If you would like to receive a Family Care Pack, please complete the form below to express your interest. The packs are designed to provide comfort, practical support and helpful resources for families throughout treatment and recovery.

• Only WA families of young transplant recipients or those actively listed for a transplant will be eligible for a care pack.

Transplant Kids & Family Camp 

• Friday 20 – Sunday 22 November 2026
• Woodman Point Recreation Camp, Perth

Transplant Australia invites transplant families to join us for a weekend of connection, support and shared experiences at our Kids & Family Support Camp.

The camp will offer something for everyone, with a mix of outdoor activities, creative activities, games and opportunities for families to relax and connect with others who understand the transplant journey.

Just $25 per person, including accommodation for one night, all meals and activities.

What to expect

• Outdoor activities, including the flying fox.
• Arts, crafts and games.
• Opportunities for kids and young people to connect.
• Parent and carer peer support.
• Support and learning opportunities with a Transplant Australia Social Worker.
• Time for families to connect with other transplant families.

Spaces are limited, so we encourage families to register their interest early.
