Transplant Australia acknowledges the passing of former Senator and journalist Derryn Hinch, aged 82.
Many of our community will recall Derryn’s strong support of the Australian Transplant Games in 2012, 2014 and 2016, helping to raise awareness of organ donation and celebrate the achievements of transplant recipients from across the country.
Known to many Australians as “the Human Headline”, Derryn was a distinctive voice in Australian media and public life for decades. Following a liver cancer diagnosis, a liver transplant in 2011 gave Derryn another 15 years of life, which included serving as a Senator for Victoria from 2016 to 2019.
