CALL OUT | Your stories could help save lives

By June 28, 2016June 30th, 2016One Comment

We need members of our community to help us get more Aussies on the Australian Organ Donor Register.

Following on from the highly successful Life Giving Stories, a live storytelling event featuring inspiring and life-affirming stories of people from families who have been touched by organ and tissue donation, our friends at the NSW Multicultural Health Communication Service (MHCS) is calling out for people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds to tell their stories.

The storytelling event is envisioned to increase awareness of organ and tissue donation and its benefits to CALD communities.

In collaboration with Performance 4a, they will produce a special presentation to highlight the personal experiences of recipients and donors. Selected individuals will be mentored by Performance 4a’s master storytellers William Yang and Annette Shun Wah to showcase their story.

They will conduct workshops to assist participants to tell their stories confidently and engagingly. The live performance will also be recorded and be uploaded to our website and social media platforms to help spread the stories further.

Tell us your story and inspire others to think about the gift of life.

If you’re interested in participating, come along to our Info Session in July. You do not need to have specialised skills or experience in writing or performance to participate.

The Info Session will be held at:
School of Mechanics & Arts (SMSA)
280 Pitt St, Sydney (behind Town Hall)
Date: Saturday, 23 July 2016
Time: 11am – 1pm

Selected participants will be paid a honorarium of $200 each to cover food and transport expenses, and will be required to attend 2 one-day workshops to learn how to tell your stories.

Please RSVP to lifegivingstories@gmail.com by 15 July 2016. For more information, please call Michael Camit or Kevin Bathman (02) 8753 5005 or 0404 962992
