REMEMBERING JAMES REILLY

By September 8, 2021No Comments

It is with much sadness and regret that the Board of Directors of Transplant Australia announce the passing of one of their fellow Board Members, James Reilly.

James, aged 49, passed away suddenly last week. He had recently worked hard to be re-accepted on to the transplant waiting list after losing the functioning of his kidney transplant two years ago.

Board Chairman Jason Ryan said James was from a rare breed of people that faced many complications in life but spent their days trying to make it better for the next generation of those needing and receiving a transplant.

“James contributed greatly to our Board and his enthusiasm and zest for life and making change was infectious. He shared our vision of improving Australia’s rate of organ donation so that anyone needing a transplant could have confidence it would be available. He introduced Transplant Australia to a wider range of businesses and in particular the sporting community through association with TAB Cares and its golf day in 2019. His friendship and counsel will be greatly missed,” Mr Ryan said.

The funeral for James will be held on Friday, September 10 from 9.55am to 11.25am. The service can be viewed here
