We are saddened to announce the passing of Paul Beard, a double lung recipient from Queensland. Paul and his wife Lyn were wonderful additions to the Australian Team at the World Transplant Games in Perth in 2023 where Paul competed in petanque and swimming, achieving a bronze medal in the 50m breaststroke. His passion for fitness was obvious and he made good use of his new lungs which he received in 2017. Although he was quite unwell, it was wonderful to see Paul at the Australian Transplant Games in Canberra last year. The next World Transplant Games in Dresden was on his bucket list.
Sadly he passed away last week. His funeral will be at the Great Northern Gardens of Remembrance, Deception Bay on the outskirts of Brisbane at 11am on Thursday, February 13. Lyn has requested in lieu of flowers donations to Transplant Australia Queensland. https://transplant-australia-donation-form.raiselysite.com/.
